On Jan. 23, TARDEC Director Dr. Paul Rogers sent the following message to his team at the Detroit Arsenal:
TARDEC Associates -
I write trusting that you had a restful, enjoyable holiday season. And I sincerely hope you are recharged because 2013 promises to be a challenging, exciting, rewarding year.
Already, we are off to a great start. We were privileged to welcome RDECOM Director Mr. Dale Ormond to the Detroit Arsenal last week. Hopefully, you were able to attend his Town Hall meeting. In both that meeting and other engagements around the Arsenal, I was struck by his candor and his enthusiasm for the work we are doing and our collaboration efforts across both the industry and defense communities.
Since Mr. Ormond has been here before and he is very familiar with our work, we scheduled this trip so he could spend time in areas he may have briefly visited in the past. This time, he got a deeper dive into our Survivability area, around GVPM, and over to Selfridge. And, at each stop along the way, TARDEC associates gave him the straight story on what we are accomplishing in a professional and expert manner. Great job by everyone!
In the coming days, I will be supplying additional information to Mr. Ormond on a number of TARDEC projects. Since he has personally experienced these TARDEC success stories, he is now planning on sharing these details across the RDECOM community as examples of "best in class" work.
I continue to appreciate the vital work you do. Together, we will maintain and advance TARDEC's role as the premier engineering and research center for Department of Defense ground vehicles and systems. As Mr. Ormond said, "We're the ones that can enable the Army for the future fight."
